A heavy mass 'm' is hanging from a string in equilibrium without breaking it. When this same mass is set into oscillation, the string breaks. Explain.

Reason/Explanation ⇒ When the heavy mass is hanging in the string the Tension of the string balances the gravitational force mg.

But when the mass ''m'' starts moving or starts oscillating then the Centripetal Force Arises which is not balanced by the tension force neither the Horizontal component of the Gravitational. As a Results of which the strings breaks.

Centripetal Force which is mathematically equal to the mv²/r is always produced when the body is moving along an circular path.

Hope it helps.
