A heavy uniform chain lies on a horizontal table top. If coefficient of friction between the chain and the table surface is 0.25, then what is the maximum fraction of length of the chain, that can hang over one edge of the table? Please reply with method. Best answer will be marked Brainliest

All of those answers are correct but far too complicated. It will start moving when the weight hanging off equals the normal frictional force. Think, don’t complicate things unnecessarily.

L=total length

l= length of chain off the table.

At the instant of movement

(L-l)*0.25=l

L-l=4l

L=5l

l=L/5
