A hedge boundary needs to be planted around a rectangular lawn 18 m long and 12 m wide. If 3 shrubs can be planted to grow a metre of hedge, how many shrubs will be needed in all?

hint :- ( answer is 180 shrubs )

perimeter of rectangle = 2 ( l + b )
here, length = 18 and breadth = 12
so perimeter = 2(18+12)
p = 2 * 30 = 60 m
no. of shrubs = 3 * 60 = 180 shrubs

Perimeter of rectangular lawn is given by -

Perimeter = 2 (length + width)

Perimeter = 2 (18 + 12)

Perimeter = 2 × 30

Perimeter = 60 m

Length of hedge boundary is same as perimeter of rectangular lawn.

Length of hedge boundary = 60 m

No of shrubs need to be planted -

No of shrubs = 60 × 3

No of shrubs = 180 shrubs
