Given:
A heterozygous violet flowered pea plant is crossed to another homozygous violet flower.
To find:
% of progeny plants will have the recessive trait i.e white flowers.
Calculation:
Violet colour of flowers is a dominant trait.
So, Heterozygous Violet genotype = Vv
Homozygous Violet genotype = VV
So, gametes produced are V and v
Refer to image for table:
Hence , % of progeny plants having recessive trait (i.e. white flowers)
So, final answer is:
- It is also visible from the table that all the F1 progenies have violet phenotype due to dominance of Violet (V) trait.
- So, white flowers are not produced.
