a hockey ball of mass 200 gram travelling at 10 metre per second is struck by a hockey stick so as to return it along its original parts with the velocity at 5 metre per second calculate the change of momentum occurred in the motion of the hockey Ball by the force applied by the hockey stick.

Answer:

mass = 200g, velocity= 10m/s

(momentum) before hitting the bat = m×v

= 200× 10

= 2000 g-m/s

(momentum) after hitting the bat = m×v

= 200× 5

=1000 g-m/s

change in momentum = momentum) before hitting the bat-momentum) after hitting the bat

= 2000- 1000

= 1000 g-m/s

= 1 kg-m/s
