Given:-

  • Mass of Hockey ball = 400g → 0.4kg

  • Initial Velocity of ball = 10m/s

  • Final Velocity = - 4m/s ( As it moves in Opposite Direction ).

To Find:-

  • Change in momentum of the Hockey ball

Formulae used:-

  • Change in Momentum = mv - mu

Where,

  • m = Mass
  • v = Final Velocity
  • u = initial velocity

Now,

→ Initial momentum = mu → 0.4 × ( 10 )

→ Initial momentum = 4kgm/s

→ Final momentum = mv → 0.4 × ( - 4)

→ Final momentum = → -1.6kgm/s

Therefore,

→ Change in momentum = mv - mu

→ Change in momentum = -1.6 - 4

→ Change in momentum = -5.6kgm/s.

Hence, The Change in momentum is -5.6kgm/s
