A honey bee leaves the hive and travels two km before returning. Is the displacement for the trip same as the distance travelled? if not why

displacement is zero
why because the shortest distance is the displacement
the bee went from the hive and came back to the hive.
so it can be there itself

NO, displacement is the change in his position, so if he started at the hive, and ended at the hive, he didn't really change position. however, between those two times, he traveled a distance of 4 km total. distance is how far you traveled.
