a horse and a cart together cost 1600. if the cost of the cart is one third the cost of the horse , find the cost of horse and cart seperately . explain briefly

let the cost of horse be X
n cost of cart be X ×1/3

both cost rs. 1600
___________________

ACCORDING TO THE QUESTION :--


==>X + X/3 = 1600

==>3x +X/3 = 1600

==>3x + X = 1600 × 3

==>4x = 4800

==>X = 4800/4

==>X = 1200
________________

cost of horse is 1200

and the cost of cart is (X × 1/3) =400
