A hot plate of an electric oven connected to a
220 V line has two resistance coils A and B,
each of 24 22 resistance, which may be used
separately in series or in parallel. What are the
currents in three cases?

Explanation:

in case.1 coils are used separately

V = IR

220 = 24× 1

I = 9.167

IN CASE 2 : COILS ARE IN SERIES

R = R1 + R2

24+24 = 48 OHM

V= I × R

220 = 48 × I

I = 4.583

IN CASE III : COILS IN PARALLEL

1/R = 1/ R1 + 1/R2

THEN. R = 12

V = IR

220 = 12 × 1

I = 18.334
