A hot plate of electric oven connected at 220v line has two resistance coil a and b each 24 resistance which may be used separately in series or in parallel. What are the current in three cases

Answer:- i) Calculations of c current when each call is used separately
Potential difference = 220v
Resistance 24Ω [ one coil only ]
Current I = V/R
I = 220/24
I = 9.17 A

ii) calculating of a current when two coils are connected .
24Ω+24Ω = 48Ω
Potential difference - 220
Resistance - 48Ω
Current I = V/R
I = 220/48= 4.58 A

iii) calculating of current when two coils are connected in parallel .

1/R = 1/24+ 1/24 = 1+1/24 = 2/24=1/12 , So R = 12Ω
Here , Potential difference = 220 V
Resistance R = 12 ( two coils in parallel )
Current I = V/R
I = 220/12
I = 18.34 A
