Given-
mass of hot solid,m1 = 50 gm at 100°C
mass of water,m2 = 80 gm at 17°C
final temperature = 20°C
by principle of calorimetry
heat given = heat taken
=> m1 x c1 x ∆T1 = m2 x c2 x ∆T2
=>50 x c1 x (100-20) = 80 x 4.2 x (20 - 17)
=> c1 = (80 x 4.2 x 3) / (50 x 80)
=> c1 = 0.252 joule / gm-°C
i hope it will help you
