To Find : How many match boxes are needed to make the table as shown in the figure?

What is the total volume of the match boxes

Solution:

6   match boxes are needed to make the table as shown in the figure

The length, breadth and height of the match box are 2.5 cm by 4 cm by 1.5 cm.

Volume of one match box =  2.5 * 4 * 1.5  = 15 cm³

Volume of 6 match box =  6 x 15  = 90 cm³

area of the boxes which are in contact with the floor

1.5 * 4  +  4 * 2.5   = 6 + 10  = 16 cm²

surface area of the top of the table

= 4 * 2.5 * 3

= 30  cm²
