ax^2 + bx + c =0

sum of roots = sina + cos a = - b/a

product of roots = sina × cosa = c/a

Now, sin a + cos a = -b/a

on squaring on both sides

sin ^2a + cos ^2 a + 2sin a cos a= -b^2/a^2

1+2c/a = b^2 /a^2

(a +2c)/ a = b^2/a^2

(a+2c)a = b^2

a^2 + 2ac = b^2

therefore , b^2 = a^2+2ac
