A is three times as old as B today and A was four times as old as B three years ago. Then what is the sum of there present ages​

x = 3 y

Three years ago

4 ( y - 3 ) = x - 3

substitute x = 3 y

4 y - 12 = 3 y - 3

y = 9

x = 3 y = 27

x + y = 36

Therefore the sum of their present ages is 36
