A.T.Q,

Age of A = 2(Age of B)

⇒A = 2B ...........(1)

Before 3 years

A was 3 times as old as B

⇒A - 3 = 3(B - 3)

⇒A - 3 = 3B - 9

⇒A - 3B = -6 .........(2)

Put Value of (1) in 2

⇒2B - 3B = -6

⇒-B = -6

⇒B = 6

∴ Age of B is 6 years.

Put value of B in (1)

A = 2B

⇒A = 2(6)

⇒A = 12

∴ Age of A is 12 years

Proof

Take equation (2)

⇒12 - 3 = 3(B - 3)

Put value of A and B

⇒12 - 3 = 3(6 - 3)

⇒9 = 3(3)

⇒9 = 9

Hence Proved
