Given :

  • Three more than twice a number is equal to four less than the number

To Find :

  • The number

Solution :

Let the required number be "x".

Then , three more than twice the number = 2x + 3

Four less than the number = x - 4

According to the question ,

→ 2x + 3 = x - 4

→ 2x = x - 4 - 3

→ 2x = x - 7

→ 2x - x = -7

→ x = -7

Hence ,

  • The required number is -7

Verification :

Substituting x as -7 in the equation ,

→ 2(-7) + 3 = -7 - 4

→ - 14 + 3 = -11

→ - 11 = - 11

→ LHS = RHS

Hence , Verfied.
