A jar contains 27 marbles. Five of them are green and other are blue. If a marble is drawn at random from the jar, the probability that is green is 2/3. Find the number of blue marbles in the jar.

Nareshmar: given is p(e)=2/3 so according to it there should be 18 blue marble and 9 green
SamuelKuruvilla15: In the question it is given that there are 5 green marbles
anoopsingh2: but the probability is also given sir
Nareshmar: yes
anoopsingh2: 5marbles is given because he say 5 green marbles toh he hi jyada bhi ho skti h or baki blue h
Nareshmar: yup so there is 18 blue and 9 green

total 27 marbles
probability green marbles = 2/3 ×27 (cancel)
=2×9
=18

probabilty of blue marble = 1-2/3

= 1/3

blue marble = 1/3 ×27 (cancel )
= 1×9
= 9

green = 18 and blue = 9

Nareshmar: correct answer

Answer:

The number of blue marbles in the jar is 9.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the number of green marbles in the jar,

Given,

The total number of marbles = 27,

In which some are green and some are blue,

⇒ Number of blue marbles = 27 - x

Since, the probability of green marble = Number of green marbles / Total number of marbles

\implies \frac{x}{27}=\frac{2}{3}

x=\frac{54}{3}=18

Hence, the number of blue marbles = 27 - 18 = 9.
