A kite, shown in the adjoining figure, is made of a special paper that cost 80 paise per sq cm. If bd=6, Ao=4cm, CO= 8 cm find the cost of making the kite.

Let ABCD be the vertices of kite. Let AC & BD be the digonals that intersest eachother at 0,

d1 = BD = 6cm
d2 = AO + CO = 8+4 = 12 cm

Area of fig. =  1/2 x d1 x d2
                   = 1/2 x 12 x 6
                   = 36 cm^2

Therefore, cost of paper = area x rate
                                       = 36 x 80
                                       = 2880 paisa
                                       = 28.8 Rs.

ayushmorande: 1 Rs. = 100 paisa, so if you divide 2880 paisa by 100, you get its equal in rs, i.e. 28.8Rs.
