so then the height and distance from base are adjacent and opposite sides and the ladder is 10 meter
so let's apply Pythagoras theorem
therefore 10^2 = 8^2 +x^2
100 = 64 + x^2
100-64 = x^2
36 = x^2
6^2 = x^2
therefore x = 6
