A ladder rests vertically against a wall in an inclination to the horizontal. It’s foot is pulled away from the wall through the dis of P so that it’s upper end slides a distance q down the wall and then the ladder makes an angle b to the horizontal. Show that p/q= cosA-cosB/sinB-sinA?

Answer:

cosA-cosB=p

sinA-sinB=q

cotA-cotB=cosA-cosB/sinA-sinB

p/q=cosA-cosB/sinA-sinB
