number of 50 paise coins =x

number of 25 paise coins=y

x+y=40---(1)

50x+25y=1275

divide each term with 25

2x+y=51----(2)

subtract (1) from (2)

x=11

substitute x=11 in (1) u get

y=29

therefore

number of 50paise coins=x=11

number of 25 paise coins=y=29

Heya!!

here's your answer!!!

let the number of 25 paise coins be x and the number of 50 paise coin be y.

it is given that total number of coin = 40

∴ x+y = 40

since the total amount = Rs 12.75 = 1275p
∴ 25x+50y = 1275

x+y = 51

subtracting (1) from (2), y = 11

putting in (1),

x+11 = 40

∴ x = 40-11=29

therefore the lady has 29 coins of 25 paise each and 11 coins of 50 paise each.
