A large hall measuring 2600 cm by 1680 cm has to be paved with identical tiles.
(a) Find the side of the largest square tile that can be used to tile the entire floor without cutting any tile.

Answer:

Find HCF OF 2600 and 1680= 40

So one side of tile= 2600/40= 65cm and

other side of tile = 1680/40= 42cm

Thus area of single tile = 2730 sq.cm

And area of the hall / area of single tile = no tile s used

= 1600 is the no of tiles used without cutting any tile.
