A large number of free electrons are present in metals yet no current flows in the absence of electric potential across it.explain the statement with reason

Yes basically we know metals are generally called as conductors because they have so many free electrons ....but without the potential difference the electrons are stationary at their ground level ..thus there is no charge or flow of electrons in the conductor for production of the electricity....
For the movement electrons and flow of charge we have create a condition such as making difference in potential across the conductor for the flow of electrons from higher potential to the lower potential .......
