when a lemon is in a glass of water it seems to be bulged out (or larger in size) . this is because the way we see the object . the light travels from air to glass to water, we know that the refractive index of the glass is more and thus the speed of light in glass is slow, this causes the refraction of light, and thus there is a change in the size of the lemon

A lemon in glass of water is seem bigger than its actual size,it undergoes refraction
------------------
refraction if the phenomenon in which the light tends to bend when it moves from one medium to other

as the refractive index of water is more than air the light will bend away from the normal which makes the lemon looks bigger
