Subject- Letter about rash and reckless driving by the people in the city.
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authority towards rash and reckless driving by the people in the city. Most of the accidents tend to happen because of unsafe driving. One of the important steps towards being safe in this world is to take preventive measures. In order to prevent oneself and others from becoming prey to accidents, one needs to follow certain rules. Traffic rules are the most important rule which every person should follow. Learning to drive at proper age should also be taken into consideration. Underage children should not be allowed to drive. One should always stay calm while driving and not use mobile phones while driving. Using helmets is one of the easiest ways of preventing accidents. Hence, to remain safe these rules should be followed.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Yours truly

I agree with the views expressed by Mr. S. S. Pandit (4th March) on the reckless driving of cars and Lorries in the city. Seeing the break-neck speed at which they race along the streets, one gets the impression that the youngsteryoungster/driver must be drunk. Many of them do not slow down the speed even while negotiating sudden turns on the road. It is not surprising that road accidents are on the increase. The other day I saw a lorry knock down an old woman who was crossing a road. What was more shocking to me was that the lorry did not stop, but speed on, as though nothing had happened.
The drivers/youngster of cars and Lorries must be compelled to observe the speed- limit laid down for vehicles plying in a city. The culprits must be given deterrent punishment.

Tejasvani
