a letter on The need to ban whaling and how this needs immediate attention of the public; and also about using products made of the whale urging them to stop.

Answer:
Killing whales for food has been happening for millennia. But it was commercial whaling – turning whales into barrels of oil for profit – that led to the wholesale destruction of most of the world’s populations of big whales. The loss of whales from our oceans is the same story as overfishing of big fish – sharks, tuna, cod and others. It’s a tragedy for the species and has immense knock on effects across the ocean. We know that whales are important for the oceans, and we know that as long-lived, slow-growing animals they are much more susceptible to overfishing than actual fish.
Dear sir/madam,
I beg to draw your attention to the need to ban whaling. Whales are extinct animals. Only 10,000 to 25,000 whales are left in the world which is 10% of what they were once.
Over a thousand whales are killed each year for their meat and body parts and are sold for commercial gain. Their oil, blubber and cartilage are used for pharmaceuticals and health supplements. Whale meat is even used in pet food or is served to tourists as a " traditional dish ".
I would appreciate it if you publish this letter in your esteem newspaper so that the public is aware and takes action on this.
