Sir,

Kindly publish my views on the ways and means to tackle corruption in ‘Society alert’ column of your esteemed daily.

Increasing corruption in public life is a growing nuisance. It is assuming dangerous proportions and taking the form of a cancer in the social life of the day. The best way to tackle this problem is to create a social awareness among the people on this very important issue. The corrupt elements should be thoroughly exposed and given an exemplary punishment. Those who bring the cases of corruption to the notice of the authorities should be publicly humored and richly rewarded. Working in all government offices should be made transparent. Big signboard asking people not to pay any unauthorized money or bribe to anybody should be put up in all offices. Red tap should be reduced to the minimum. Deterrent punishments should be given to those public servants who delay the work without rhyme or reason. Some of these steps will go a long way in tackling corruption in public life.

Concept: Formal letters are those that follow a rigid format and are also known as business letters or professional letters. Formal letters inherently have a far more formal tone than pleasant or casual letters. There are several reasons to write formal letters, including:

  • expressing your concerns in a professional setting,
  • disseminating official information throughout your workplace,
  • placing an order,
  • applying for a job,
  • writing to the editor of a newspaper about issues affecting numerous communities of people, etc.

Subject: letter regarding corruption in public life

Respected Sir,

The problem of rising public corruption is getting worse. It is growing to hazardous dimensions and resembling a cancer in modern society. The best strategy to handle this issue is to raise social awareness of this crucial topic among the populace. The corrupt elements ought to be fully exposed and punished in the most exemplary way possible. Those who alert the authorities to instances of corruption ought to be publicly amused and lavishly rewarded. All government offices should make their operations transparent. All offices should have large signs asking people not to bribe anyone or pay any illicit money. Red tap needs to be kept to a minimum.

Therefore, public employees who cause unjustified delays in the task should face deterrent sanctions. Some of these actions will make a big difference in the fight against corruption in public life.

Thanking You,

Yours sincerely,

Mahima Panday
