Through the column of your estemmed daily i venture my views against the Reckless driving in our area.Of late, it has become a great problem in our area.Over the last few years the number of road accidents has been on the rise. The driver of private buses and cars often engage themselves in overtaking one another, without caring about sefety of the passenger or pedestrians on the road. The horribly bad conditions of the roads adds fuel to fire. The traffic police are playing the role of pedestrians.
So, therefore i request you to please publish this hazzerds and i also request you to the commission system for the drivers and conductors must be done away with as early as possible.
Thanking you

Subject: Reckless driving endangering precious human life.
Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to draw the attention of the traffic authorities and the general public on the issue of increasing road accidents due reckless driving especially by youngsters and minors which causes accidents and results in injuries and lost of life.
There are clear traffic rules which prohibit driving by underaged children, overspeeding, driving on the wrong lane, parking in no parking zones, bikers without helmet, car drivers without driving license, driving without seat belts, driving under influence of intoxicants, etc and also we defined penalties for defaulters. Overspeeding and ignoring traffic lights and driving under the influence of alcohol must be viewed seriously. There are several hit and run cases everyday. Reckless drivers hit other vehicles or people walking on foot and fled the scene with the victims bleeding, screaming in pain and calling for help. Those whose driving exceed the speed limits must be given exemplary punishments. These reckless drivers give no regards for the rules and regulations of public roads. They are a menace and highly dangerous to public safety. Our traffic personnel must do their best to book them under relevant laws.
Maybe it is high time for us to review the existing penalties imposed upon people for rash driving. Imposing heavier penalties on offenders is the need of the hour to deter rash and reckless driving. Any rash driver involved in hit and run should be fined along with appropriate imprisonment time.
Our traffic control personnel must be increased. Both population and vehicle users are growing rapidly but the number of traffic police has not has more or less remained the same. It is also necessary to introduce road safety lessons in the text books of schools and colleges. Students must be taught the necessity of safe driving and learn to honour the sanctity of human life. Further, no driving license should be issued to anyone until they have passed from driving schools with satisfactory performance.
"Speed thrills but kills." Reckless and irresponsible driving endangers the life of the driver as well as other drivers, passengers and pedestrians. We must remember that it is better to drive safely then to regret later.
Yours sincerely,
Sapna
