The length of the tape used is 120 cm.

To find the length of the tape used to seal the lid of the box, we need to add up the lengths of all four sides of the lid plus the overlap.

The length of the tape used for the two longer sides of the lid (40 cm) is:

2 x (40 cm + 5 cm) = 90 cm

The length of the tape used for the two shorter sides of the lid (10 cm) is:

2 x (10 cm + 5 cm) = 30 cm

So the total length of the tape used is:

90 cm + 30 cm = 120 cm

Therefore, the length of the tape used is 120 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

length = 40 m

breadth = 10 m

Length of the tape on the longer sides which is 40 cm will be:

2(length + overlapping)

= 2(40 + 5)cm

= 2x45 cm

= 90 cm

length of the tape on shorter sides which is 10 cm will be:

2(length + overlapping)

= 2(10 + 5) cm

= 2x15 cm

= 30 cm

.

. . the length of the tape used with the overlapping of 5 cm = 90 cm + 30 cm

= 120 cm
