A lift is designed to carry a load of 2000 kg through 5 floors of a building, averaging 6 m per floor, in 10 s. Calculate the power of the lift.

Answer:

force = 2,000×10

=20,000N

distance = 5 × 6 = 30m

time = 10 s

∴ work done = 20,000×30

= 600,000 joules

∴power = 600,000/10

= 60,000 j/s
