A light ray, going through a prism with the angle of prism 60°, is found to deviate by 30°. What limit on the refractive index can be put from these data

Given :

Angle of prism =60

Angle of deviation= 30

μ= sin(A+Dm)/2 / Sin A/2

μ= Sin (60 +Dm)/2/ Sin 30

We know that one ray has been found out which is deviated by 30°, the angle of minimum deviation should be either equal or less than 30°.

μ≤2sin 60+dm/2

μ≤2x1/√2

μ≤√2
