A light ray passes from liquid to air. find the value of critical angleif velocity in air and liquid are 3*10^8m/s and 1.5*10^8m/s respectively

Refractive index of air = 1 = μ2

Refractive index of the liquid

= speed of light in air/speed of light in medium

= 3x10⁸/1.5x10⁸

= 2 = μ1


Critical angle

= sin⁻¹(μ2/μ1)

= sin⁻¹(1/2)

= sin⁻¹0.5

= 30°


Hence, the critical angle is 30°.
