Given :- px + q = 0

Where p and q are rational number and p is not equal to zero.

So,

for solution :-

px + q = 0

px = -q

x = -q/p

The solution of the equation is -q/p
where p and q are rational number and p is not equal to zero.

The solution of the linear equation px + q = 0 is - q/p

Given :

A linear equation in one variable is px + q = 0 , where p and q are rational numbers and p ≠ 0

To find :

The solution of the linear equation

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Define linear equation

A linear equation is an algebraic equation consisting of variables and constants and equality sign in which each term has an exponent of one

The general equation of linear equation in one variable is px + q = 0 where p ≠ 0

Step 2 of 2 :

Find the solution of the linear equation

Here the given linear equation is

px + q = 0

where p and q are rational numbers and p ≠ 0

We find the solution of the equation as below

\displaystyle \sf  px + q = 0

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies }px  =  -  q

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies }x =  \frac{ - q}{p} \:  \:  \: \bigg[ \:  \because \: p \ne 0\bigg]

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies }x =  -  \frac{ q}{p}

Hence the solution of the linear equation px + q = 0 is - q/p
