A machine gun fires 200 bullets per minute with a velocity of 60 m/s. What is the

power of the machine gun, given that the mass of each bullet is 0.05 g?

Power of a body is defined as the rate at which the body can do the work.

Power =Wt

, where work done W=F×d=m×a×d

200 bullets are fired in one minute →

time taken for firing 1 bullet t= =3.33s

Now, v=u+at

, but u=0 as the bullet starts from rest and v=200km/hr=60m/s

⇒100=0+a16

→a=600m/s2

we can use the kinematic equation s=ut+12

at2

to calculate the distance.

⇒s=0+12

600m/s2×(16)2=253m

⇒P=Wt

=20g×600m/s2×25316$ = 600W
