A magnet in the form of a cube is placed on a piece of cork that floats on water. The cube

is marked with four directions. W, X, Y and Z and the compass needle which points in the

direction as shown in the figure. Which of the following denotes the N - pole and S - pole of

the magnet?​

Answer:

Y is south pole and z is North pole because north attracts south so in thos condition the needle is working on the magnetic effect of earth it means where earth has north direction the south side of needle will be there and where earth has south direction the needle stays north in direction.
