When the sun rays reach the earth's surface it gets heated up but, because earth surface is not even it is heated unevenly and thus, uneven heating of earth surface causes the winds to flow.

Winds are a natural renewable source of energy which can be harnessed by using huge wind turbines, the blades of turbines are rotated by fast blowing wind and mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy by the generator installed in it. These areas are called wind farms. For wind turbine to rotate the speed of the wind should be faster.

In South America, the wind potential had not been harnessed because the countries are not technologically advanced and it lacks infrastructure. Although Brazil has various wind farms. In Antarctica, the wind stations cannot be stationed because of the permanent layer of ice covering it.

But, in Europe, wind energy has been harnessed by countries like Denmark, Germany, the United Kingdom, etc. The polar Easterly flowing through the polar areas is with high velocity and the European countries are technologically advanced to capture the wind energy. Hence, in many European countries, the energy requirements are made from wind energy.
