a man 160cm tall is at a distance of600cm from the foot of a source of light situated at the top of a pole 4.1m high.find the distance of top of man from the source of light

AB = 160 cm 

DE =160 cm
 Total height of the pole
= 4.1 m = 410 cm 

CE = CD – DE
= 410 – 160

= 250 cm 
In Δ AEC, by Pythagoras theorem
AC2 = CE2 + AE2       
= 2502 + 6002       
= 62500 + 360000
= 422500 

∴ AC = 650 cm
