50 dozens of eggs = 50×12 = 600 eggs.

Cost of the eggs = ₹4/dozen × 50 dozens = ₹200

In order to gain 5% on the eggs, the seller must sell it at ₹200 + 5% of ₹200 = ₹210.

Eggs left after removing the rotten ones = 600 - 40 = 560 eggs.

Cost of each egg = ₹ 210/560 = ₹ 3/8.

Cost of one dozen eggs = ₹ 12×3/8 = ₹ 4.50
