Answer:

15

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

A man bought horse for rs.3000 three of them did hr sold the rest for rs.65 more than the cost gained 6% on his outlay find the number of horses

ANSWER

Let number of horses be h and cost of each horse be x

 So h x  x = 3000.---------(1)

      x = 3000 / h---------(2)

 Now 3 horses died. The other horses are sold for Rs 65 more t han t he cost price.

 So (h – 3)(x + 65) = 3000 x 106 / 100

 H x - 3 x + 65 h – 195 = 3180

From (1) we get

 3000 – 195 – 3180 + 65 h – 3 x = 0

 65 h – 3 x = 375

 From (2) we have

 65 h – 3(3000 / h) = 375

 65 h^2 – 375 h – 9000 = 0

  13 h^2 – 75 h – 1800 = 0

  We know that

     h = - b ± √b^2 – 4 ac / 2 a

   h  = - (- 75) ± √- 75^2 – 4(13)(- 1800) / 2(13)

        = 75 ± √ 99225 / 26

        = 75 + 315 / 26

        = 390 / 26

        = 15

So he bought 15 horses
