Answer:

By selling 75 metres of cloth, a person gains the cost price of 15 metres. What is the gain percent?

It not he gain but he lose. So Let us solve:

Let Re 1 be the selling price of clothe per metre

Therefore selling price for 75 meters=75*1=Rs75

Since the selling price of 75 metres and a person gain the cost price of 15 metres.

Therefore the cost price of 15 metres= Rs 75

Therefore cost price per meter= 75/15=Rs 5

Therefore the cost price of 75 metres= 5*75= Rs 375

Therefore his loses= 375–75=Rs 300

Hence his loses% = 300*100/375= 80%

Answer:

The cost price of 1 metre = Rs. x

Cost price of 20 metre = Rs. 20x

Cost price of 50 metre = Rs. 50x

Given,

By selling 50 metres, he gains the cost price of 20

= Cost price of 50 metre + cost price of 20 metre

= 50x + 20x

= 70x

∴ Profit percent = [(Selling price of 50 metres - cost price of 50 metres)/Cost Price of 50 metres] × 100%

= [(70x - 50x)/50x] × 100%

= (2/5) × 100

= 40%
