Let CP of first chair =x

CP of 2nd chair=900-x

so,SP of 1st chair=4x/5

and SP of 2nd chair=(900-X)5/4

Profit=SP-Cp

90=4x/5+(900-X)5/4-900

X=300

1st chair CP=300 and 2nd chair=600

Dear Student,

● Answer -

Cost of lower priced chair = 300 Rs

◆ Explanation -

Let x be cost price of one chair, then cost price of another chair is 900-x.

Selling price of one chair is -

SP1 = 4/5 × x

SP1 = 4x/5

Selling price of another chair is -

SP2 = 5/4 × (900-x)

SP2 = 1125 - 5x/4

Total profit is calculated as -

Profit = SP - CP

90 = (4x/5 + 1125 - 5x/4) - 900

x (5/4 - 4/5) = 1125 - 900 - 90

9x/20 = 135

x = 135 × 20/9

x = 300 Rs

Price of other chair is 900-x = 900-300 = 600 Rs.

Hence, price of lower priced chair 300 Rs.
