Let the speed of boat be x and speed of stream be y.

x + y = 12 ----(i)

x - y = 8 -----(ii)

2x = 20

x = 10

Putting value of x in eq.(i), we get

x + y = 12

10 + y = 12

y = 2

Speed of boat = 10km/h

Speed of stream = 2 km/h
