Dear Student,

◆ Answer -

Speed downstream = 4.3 km/h

● Explanation -

Let v be speed of the boat upstream and speed of the boat downstream is vd = v+3.

Let t1 and t2 be time taken to go upstream and downstream respectively.

t1 = 1/v

t2 = 1/(v+3)

Also,

t1 + t2 = 1

1/v + 1/(v+3) = 1

Solving this,

v = (√13-1)/2

v = 1.3 km/h

Then, speed downstream is -

v+3 = 1.3+3

vd = 4.3 km/h

Hence, speed of the boat downstream is 4.3 km/h.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
