A man can walk at a speed of 6km/hr and jog at a speed of 10 km/hr.He covered a distance of 9km in one hour,partly by walking and partly by jogging.Find for how much time he walked and how much distance?

Answer:

Here time given = 1 hr.

Let time given to walk= x

And time given to jogging = 1-x

So,

Distance he had run=6x

Distance he had jogged =10-10x

Thus,

Total distance = 6x +10+-10x

9 = 10-4x

9-10 = -4x

-1 =-4x

x =¼

So,

Time given to walk= ¼of60 min

=15min

Time given to jogging= 60-15

=45min

And,

For distance he had jog = 10 -10 •¼

=25/2

For distance he had walk=¼•6

=3/2
