man travel d distance with the speed of 30 kmph and take time to reach is x+7/60

if he travels with the speed of 40 kmph then he will reach same distance in x+1/20

d=30(x + 7/60)               .......eq 1

and d is also equal to 40(x + 1/20)

then 30(x + 7/60)=40(x + 1/20)

by solving we get x =3/10

subsitute x in ep 1 then we get d = 12.5km

Answer:

His destination is 20 km away.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the time be x

case 1 :

Speed = 30 km /hr

A man driving a scooter at 30 kmph reaches his destination 7 minutes late to an appointment.

Time = x+\frac{7}{60}

Distance = Speed \times Time

               = 30(x+\frac{7}{60})   ---1

case 2:

Speed = 40 km /hr

A man driving a scooter at 40 kmph reaches his destination 3 minutes before time

Time = x-\frac{3}{60}

Distance = Speed \times Time

               = 40(x-\frac{3}{60})  ---2

Since distance remains same

So, 30(x+\frac{7}{60})=40(x-\frac{3}{60})

x=\frac{11}{20}

Substitute in 1

Distance = 30(x+\frac{7}{60})

              = 20

Hence His destination is 20 km away.
