Answers
Given : A man driving his bike at 32 kmph reaches his office 10 minutes late. had he driven 25% faster on an average he would have reached 4 minutes earlier than the scheduled time
To find : How far is his office ?
Solution:
Let Say Distance of office = D km
time taken to reach at Scheduled time = T mins
Time taken while Driving at 32 kmph
= D / 32 hr
= 60D/32 mins
=15D/8 Mins
15D/8 = T + 10
=> 15D = 8T + 80
=> 8T = 15D - 80
driven 25% faster
=> new Speed = 32 + (25/100)32 = 40 kmph
Time Taken = D/40 hr
= 60D/40 mins
= 3D/2 mins
3D/2 = T - 4
=> 3D = 2T - 8
=> 12D = 8T - 32
=> 8T = 12D + 32
8T = 15D - 80
8T = 12D + 32
Equating both
15D - 80 = 12D + 32
=> 3D = 112
=> D = 112/3 km = 37.33 km
His office is 37.33 km far
