Let total savings in Rs be x
He gave 1/3 of total savings to his wife .
i.e, 1/3 of x = x/3......(i)
Again, he have 2/5 of total savings to his son.
i.e, 2/5 of x = 2x/5......(ii)
A/Q his saving balance is Rs 24000.
From equation (i) and (ii)..
x - { 2x/5 + x/3 } = 24000
x - { 6x + 5x/15} = 24000
x - 11x/15 = 24000
15x - 11x/ 15 = 24000
4x/15= 24000
4x = 24000 ×15
x = 360000÷4
Hence, x = 90000
Total savings = Rs 90,000 ans.
