A man goes from X to Y and then from Y to Z as shown in the figure. Calculate the velocity of the man if he takes 3 min. for the first part of the journey and 2 min. for the second part.

Displacement is the SHORTEST DISTANCE between 2 points.
Here it's clear that the displacement is X to Z.
Velocity = 800-500/180-120 (time in seconds)
= 300/60
= 5m/s is the velocity and the answer :)
