Let the distance between pune and mumbai is x
Let y be the time taken from mumbai to pune
∴ y=x/4 (time =distance /speed )
let z be the time taken for return journey
∴ z=x/6
total time taken is x/4 + x/6 =5x/12
total distance travelled is 2x
∵ average speed =total distance /total time
∴ average speed= 2x÷5x/12=24/5=4.8 km/h
