Step-1

Mark the starting point as A.

Step-2

We have to picturise this as per given data in the question:-
\small{ \blacktriangleright} \normalsize{\sf\textsf{Man goes towards of East (E)}}\\ \sf\textsf{(and reaches point 1)} \\ \small{\blacktriangleright} \normalsize{\sf\textsf{He then goes in the direction}}\\ \normalsize{\sf\textsf{of South West (SW)}}\\ \textsf{(and reaches point 2)}\\ \small{\blacktriangleright} \normalsize{\sf\textsf{He then goes in the direction}}\\ \normalsize{\sf\textsf{of North West (NW)}}\\\sf\textsf{(and reaches Point B)}

Step-3

If the man was going towards the east direction, then he would still be moving in that direction with respect to the starting point.

\begin{array}{ccccc}\bf NW&&\bf N&&\bf NE\\&\nwarrow&\uparrow&\nearrow&\\\bf W&\leftarrow&\bigstar&\rightarrow&\bf E\\&\swarrow&\downarrow&\searrow&\\\bf SW&&\bf S&&\bf SE\end{array}\qquad\quad\begin{array}{cccccccc}\tiny{\boxed{\textbf{B}}}&&&\Large{\Lsh}\tiny{\boxed{\textbf{A}}}&\rightarrow&\rightarrow&\rightarrow&\tiny{\boxed{1}}\\ &\nwarrow&&&&&\swarrow&&\\ &&\nwarrow&&&\swarrow&&&\\ &&&\nwarrow&\swarrow&&&\\ &&&&\tiny{\boxed{2}}&&&&\\ \end{array}

He went in different directions as per the above map

So, his ending point is B,which is due west from the starting point A.

So, he is in West from where is started.

So, option C is correct.
